She then joined Promise Academy in the Lancaster School District, working with medically fragile students and helping launch a district-wide autism program for students with intensive behaviors. Her dedication earned her both the district-level Above and Beyond Award and the ACES Award for outstanding service.
Currently, Houston serves as a clinical supervisor at Pasadena City College, mentoring future SLPAs in the student clinic. Her clinical passions include augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), neurodiversity-affirming care, family advocacy, and social pragmatic therapy. She is actively pursuing certifications as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and in language development, deepening her expertise to better serve complex communicators.
